Gravel Locos 2025

Gravel Locos is a one-of-a-kind gravel bike race through the heart of Central Texas, starting in Historic Hico, Texas on May 24, 2025. Gravel Locos has three timed and competitive gravel routes, a 26 mile route, a 68 mile route, and a 118 mile route.

2025 Schedule of Events

 

Friday, May 23, 2025

10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Pre-Ride with the pros in Hico. Meet at the Hico Volunteer Fire Department and be ready to roll at 10:00am. There is parking all around the Fire Station. 101 Utility, Hico, Texas 76457. The route is 27 miles with approximately 1,400 ft of elevation gain.‍

4:00 pm – 8:00 pm

Packet Pickup City of Hico’s Bosque River RV Park (500 Elm Street, Hico, Texas 76457)

Requirements: You must bring your ID. While it is not required, it can be a good idea to bring a copy (or a screenshot on your phone) of your registration for those who like to be over-prepared. But generally, just your name and ID will do.

Minors: All minors will be required to have a legal guardian present to sign their release waiver. Participation in the event will not be allowed otherwise.

6:00 am – 7:30 am

Packet Pickup City of Hico’s Bosque River RV Park

8:30 am Mass Start for all 3 routes

GL110 riders will stage in the front, followed by the GL60 and lastly the GL30 will be staged after the GL60 riders.

It is HIGHLY recommended that you arrive no later than 6:30am to park. We will have parking attendants and signs to guide you as to where to park at and/or near the City of Hico’s Bosque River RV Park.

Expect traffic delays on race day as there is major road construction on Highway 220 on your way to Downtown Hico.1:00 pm – Until the last rider finishes.

Post ride meal & drinks at City of Hico’s Bosque River RV Park

Included with each entry is a meal, served and prepared by the Hico Volunteer Fire Department and local Hico volunteers. When you finish your ride, please come see us at City of Hico’s Bosque River RV Park to get your lunch and/or dinner depending on when you finish. For those over 21, get an ice-cold beer with your meal. Water & sodas will also be available.

We’ve teamed up with Buzzed Brumby Espresso Bar here in Hico to bring you espresso-based coffees and breakfast prior to the race! There is no pre-ordering; food truck will be set up on the morning of the race starting at 5:30am and will accept cash or card. The food truck will be located near the registration tables, at City of Hico’s Bosque River RV Park.

The City of Hico is deeply grateful for the incredible impact Gravel Locos has made on our community—especially our Hico Volunteer Fire Department. Thanks to Gravel Locos, the department has received a renovated firehouse, a new command truck, a Can-Am, summer fire suits, and much more.

When you ride in Gravel Locos, you’re not just taking part in an epic race—you’re directly supporting the safety and well-being of the Hico community. Your entry fee fuels real improvements and lasting change.

Route 1 – GL30 La Pequeña

La Pequeña is 25.8 miles with approximately 1,500 ft of climbing. Perfect for anyone wanting to try a gravel event for the first time or someone who wants to just ride short and enjoy the festivities of Gravel Locos. The one aid station along the route is at mile 13. That station will have Hot Dogs, & Cuban Coffee.

Route 2 – GL60 La Mediana

La Mediana is 68 miles with approximately 4,000 ft of climbing. The route will have one store stop available and three aid stations. The store stop (if needed) will be Tommy’s gas station at mile 15. The first official aid station will be at mile 23. The second aid station will be at mile 43. The third aid station will be at mile 55. Hot Dogs, & Cuban Coffee.

Route 3 – GL110 La Gran Piedra

La Gran Piedra is a challenging 118 miles with approximately 6,000 ft of climbing. Expect to show that you climbed around 6,000 ft. This route will have one store stop and five aid stations along the route. Tommy’s gas station will be available at mile 15 if needed. The first official aid station will be at mile 23. At mile 43, you will have the second aid station. The third aid station is at mile 59 after the 3B’s. The fourth aid station will be at mile 93. The fifth and last aid station will be at mile 105, Hot Dogs and Cuban Coffee.
